Finding Your Best You...

Q.  Life Coaching. What's is it?

A.   Let's think of it this way. Most folks think of sports when they hear the word 'coach'.  A coach comes in to train or retrain the muscles, hone the athlete's unique skill set, create strategies, challenge and push them to become the best athlete they can be.

I believe everyone has a unique set of talents and skills, but unfortunately many people can go through life never recognizing them or using them.  For others those gifts can get pushed aside with the daily grind of life and responsibilities.  Some folks can just get in a rut, a comfort zone or feel frustrated that something's missing from their life or discontent at the current direction of their life.

As your life coach, we enter into a co-creative relationship tempered with mutual respect.  It's not  therapy.  I'm not there to fix or cure you.  I'll never talk over or at you.  All you have to do is come with an open and willing mindset and expect to be stretched.  I'm there to walk with you in loving and sometimes convicting conversations to get you to where you tell me you want to be.  Our coaching time is about finding the areas you want to see more effective life results in.  Together we create healthy challenges and game plans to stimulate your thought process or pinpoint faulty belief systems that are keeping your from finding true fulfillment in your life.  It's amazing how many people live or navigate life out of a place of  fear, guilt or self-condemnation.  My commitment as a life coach is to empower you to live from the best parts of yourself in all situations...tapping that  place where you can clearly and truthfully express joy, love and freedom.

Q.  What kind of situations do you coach?

A.  All kinds.   Sometimes I'm coaching people on various transitions in their life, from career to relationship (break-up, divorce, single parenting, new job or brand new career).  I can also coach on finding ways to forge greater intimacy in relationships from spouse to child to co-worker or friend.  I've had clients that needed coaching on how to cope with mortality,  terminal illness as well as changing health or eating patterns.  There's also just  plain old time management, learning how to prioritize life, get out of crisis-mode and get more time back in your week.  A strong area of my coaching focuses on  improving communication skills or learning to tactfully and lovingly engage  tough conversations in relationship or the workplace.

Q.  How often do you coach?

A.  Depends on the person and the specific need.  I prefer for someone to enter into a minimum of 3 months of coaching.  It shows a level of commitment and readiness to create change in their lives.  I've had people coach 1/2 hour a week just to balance their life and have someone hold them accountable to their priorities. Some have booked 2 hour/1 time a week for a few months if they are facing a particularly tough issue.  Others find that 1 hour/week works best for them.  If someone's in a really great place already, I can do once a month just to keep them en pointe.  The amount of time can always be modified based on the needs of my coaching clients.
